What makes a good slug?
Short, lowercase, hyphenated and descriptive. Three to six words that contain the main keyword are usually enough. Avoid dates so the URL stays evergreen when you update the article.
Should I remove stop words?
Usually yes. Words like “the”, “a” or “and” add length without meaning. Keep them only when removing them changes the sense.
Can I change a slug later?
You can, but set up a 301 redirect from the old URL so you keep any links and rankings it earned.
